I’m so thankful to be able to write this blog about all we have been able to experience on our third day here at Damoh. Today just happens to be my 35th wedding anniversary and the very thoughtful Neelam Lall greeted me at 8:30 with a hug sent via Facebook from my wife!
So I will take advantage of this opportunity to send a return greeting of “Happy Anniversary” to Sandy for being the perfect partner she has always been to me. I love you more than ever and will love you always!
Vivert and Neelam Lall have been the consummate hosts and we have been “soaking in” every moment we can possibly spend with them. Today Vivert shared the amazing history of Mid-India Christian Services.
Every aspect of this ministry we see today is the result of generations of faithful sacrifice and devotion to the message of the Gospel. But it all began when his great-grandmother made the decision to walk away from everything she had ever known to follow Jesus Christ. She took one step in the direction to follow Christ and everything that occurred thereafter is a reflection of God’s plan to bring the Restoration movement to India.
It is a story that illustrates what God can do with one individual who is willing to follow Him whole-heartedly, regardless of the cost!
While listening, spell-bound as Vivert shared, I found myself silently re-committing myself to Jesus-to do what He would have me to do, to go wherever He may send me. I want my life to be a testimony of faithfulness to the Lord Jesus who gave it all for me. When the end of my life on this earth draws near, I want “no regrets” in regard to how I’ve lived and served my Lord.
One of my life verses is Acts 20:24 which, coincidentally I’ve preached on during my short visit here. “For I consider my life worth nothing if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me: the task of testifying to the Gospel of God’s Grace.”
Jesus died that we might be forgiven, live a life of joy and purpose to then spend eternity with Him, in Heaven. A sacrifice of that magnitude demands nothing less than a life of full devotion and service.
Have you taken that first step of faith to commit your life to Jesus? If so, have you have you been walking close to Him? What is the next step of faith you need to take?
