Grace… something God has given to all who are undeserving.
I don’t think I truly understood the meaning of this word grace prior to arriving in Buena Vista. I read once before that Jesus doesn’t take us aside and explain things to us all at once but He explains thing to us as we are able to understand them. It is only now that I am here, surrounded by these boys, that He has chosen to open my eyes and truly comprehend what Christ did for me on the cross.
Yesterday we went into the village where we prayed over families and one particular story hit me like a ton of bricks. It wasn’t long ago when I was lost. I remember listening to Cam preach about a young man in Guatemala who saved a girl from being raped because He chose to listen to the Holy Spirit. Only a few years later and I am standing in his presence and praying over him and his family. How is that not God’s divine intervention. Its easy to forget sometimes that God has a plan for each and every one of us. Sometimes our blessings distract us from concentrating on God and all that He has done. It takes times of struggle and sometimes hitting rock bottom to look to Him. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 12: 9-10 that God’s grace is sufficient even during times of weakness and struggle.
These last few days have been physically, mentally and spiritually exhausting but I was able to experience some of the best moments of my life! My heart will never be the same after meeting each and every person on this trip. I leave Guatemala in just two days with the understanding that the blessed have a responsibility to help the weak (Romans 15:1). I pray for an understanding of where God wants to lead me and the ability to show others the grace that comes from our Father.
We are not alone in this.
