Compassion Christian GO Team Member Bill of Rights

As a member of this Compassion Christian GO Team, I hereby willingly give up my right to:

Make decisions outside the authority of the team leader/pastor.

Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you. (Hebrews 13:17).

Enjoy the personal luxuries and independence I have at home.

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men. (Romans 14:17-18).

Criticize others around me.

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:34-35).

Criticize decisions I don’t understand.

I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. (1 Corinthians 1:10).

My personal space and my desire to be comfortable and clean.

I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish that I may gain Christ (Philippians 3:8)

Judge others by appearances. 

We never know the trials others are encountering. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. (Hebrews 13:2).

Have pre-conceived ideas about how God will use me on this team.

Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails. (Proverbs 19:21).

Miss team preparation meetings without a valid reason.

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.  (Proverbs 16:3).

Avoid serving others.

…whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." (Matthew 20:26-28).

Not completely trust God to use me for His glory on this trip.

“I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.” (Isaiah 45:3).

Control and (maybe even know!) the exact itinerary for the coming day.

In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps. (Proverbs 16:9).

Compassion Christian GO Team Member Commitment Agreement

1. Participants are responsible to write support letters and raise or fund 100% of their financial support. All team members must submit a non-refundable deposit of $100 for teams requiring airfare and $25 for non-flying trips and raise necessary funds on or by the due dates as set forth by the trip fundraising goals.
2. Participants must meet all financial deadline dates set as fundraising goals. These deadlines are important to control the cost of airline tickets and other expenses. 100% of funds are due 60 days before departure for teams that require airfare & 30 days for non-flying teams. Please contact your Team Leader immediately if you foresee missing a deadline.
3. All participants must contribute a minimum of 10% of the trip's cost from their personal finances. Team members must be willing to contribute and sacrifice in the same way they are asking others to do for their trip.
4. Contributions must be made payable to Compassion Christian Church. Because they are a tax deductible contribution, all gifts are non-refundable. If a team member’s trip is fully funded, any surplus money will first go to help another team member who hasn't raised his/her full support; secondly it would be used to offset the cost of Team Leaders & Pastors; and finally to fund a shortfall for another Compassion Christian GO Team.
5. Because the preparation process is so important to the success of the team, team members who participate in Compassion Christian sponsored GO Teams must attend a minimum of 100% of the team’s Formations (meetings). If a team member must miss a meeting they should communicate this to their Team Leader at least one week in advance except in emergency situations. Should a team member miss more than 80% of their meetings they may not be allowed to travel with the Team. Any funds raised for them will be kept in their account for use on another GO Team before the end of the next calendar year.
6. Special travel arrangements outside of the team’s scheduled travel are not encouraged, but may be approved on a case by case basis by Global Outreach. If approved, the team member is responsible for any additional cost associated with these requests.
7. It is the participant’s responsibility to inform all prayer and financial supporters of any decision to withdraw from a short-term team.
8. If a team member needs to withdraw from a team, his/her funding will be held in their name (minus their non-refundable deposit and any funds already dispatched to vendors or our Partners for the Team) and be available for his/her use on a trip through the following calendar year.
9. All team members will abstain from consuming alcohol, illicit drugs or misusing substances of any kind while traveling and on the field with a Compassion Christian GO Team. Knowledge of the abuse of a substance prior to your departure or consumption of any kind during travel or in the field may result in your being sent home from the field immediately.

Compassion Christian GO Team Member Volunteer Covenant

As a member of a Compassion Christian GO Team, I recognize that I represent first and foremost Jesus Christ, His Gospel, and His followers. In addition, because I have been commissioned and sent by Compassion Christian, I also represent the beliefs and values of Compassion Christian Church.

As a Volunteer of Compassion Christian Church I understand and agree to the following:

1. In connection with my volunteer ministry with Compassion Christian Church, I authorize the Church to conduct a background check which may include personal references. I authorize anyone contacted by the Church to furnish this information. I release Compassion Christian Church from any and all liability for any damage that may result from furnishing this information to Compassion Christian Church. I waive any right that I may have to inspect any information provided about me by any person or organization in this background check.
2. I understand that I am a voluntary participant and not an employee of Compassion Christian Church. I understand that under no circumstances can Compassion Christian Church be under any obligation, financial or otherwise, to me. I understand that I have no authority to bind the Church.
3. I attest that I have no medical conditions that would prevent me from performing my duties as a volunteer.
4. I understand and agree that in the performance of my duties as a volunteer of the Church, and even after I leave the Church, I must hold in confidence any sensitive information that I come in contact with in the church database, or while serving, regarding Compassion Christian Church, its attendees or its business.
5. I understand and affirm Compassion Christian Church’s Statement of Faith and policies and procedures, including its Marriage and Sexuality Policy (available from the church office or at www.compassionchristian.com/henderson/about_us/beliefs). I understand and agree that failure to abide by such policies and procedures may result in my losing the opportunity to serve in my volunteer position.
6. My responses above are true and correct. I understand that any omissions, false answers, or statements made by me on this form or during the volunteer interview process, will be sufficient grounds for not selecting me to serve or removing me from serving, no matter when discovered. Should my personal situation change in a way that changes the answers to the questions on this form, I shall immediately notify the Church.

I HAVE CAREFULLY READ, UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO THE VALUES AND STATEMENTS OF THE VOLUNTEER COVENANT. I WILLINGLY AGREE TO UPHOLD THESE VALUES THROUGHOUT MY ENTIRE GO TRIP PREPARATION PROCESS, TRAVEL AS WELL AS IN THE MISSION FIELD. IT IS MY COMMITMENT TO REPRESENT WITH INTEGRITY THE BIBLICAL VALUES OF COMPASSION CHRISTIAN CHURCH AND TO CONDUCT MYSELF IN A MANNER THAT WILL REFLECT THE LOVE AND COMPASSION OF JESUS CHRIST.
