Ministry Description
The Ability Ministry exists to enhance the lives of persons with physical and developmental disabilities by providing services for persons with developmental disabilities, including residence, job placement, opportunities for social interaction, and spiritual growth. In addition, we seek partnerships with individuals, churches, and other organizations to meet the physical and spiritual needs of persons with disabilities.
It is our desire to enable others through training, resources, and encouragement to effectively minister.
Ability Ministry’s curriculum is in 42 states and 19 different countries. The ministry loves to see the Church acknowledging those who Jesus called indispensable since less than 12% of churches in the US have a plan to reach out to people in their community with disability.
Ability Ministry has 2 group homes in Knoxville, 2 in Missouri, and are wanting to plant more homes in other places. There is a big need to provide care for those who are outliving their parents and caretakers so Gary is passionate to provide a place for people in these circumstances.
Ministry Calling
Gary started his career in the business world while his father was a minister. He worked for Delta for many years but prayed that God would use him elsewhere. He has been with Ability Ministry since he first found them and discovered the work they do, he was immediately hooked!
Family Life
Gary is the Chief Operating officer of Ability Ministry and has been there 15 years. He works on connecting with churches for support, managing the mission teams that come to Ability Ministry’s Riverwood Campus, and oversees all financial documents and all state/federal government regulations for business. Gary’s greatest joy is working with those with disabilities.
Prayer Points for Ability Ministry
- Personal: That he would continue living in the spirit.
- Ministry: That the church would see people with disability as beautiful.
