Ministry Description
Because I work with Muslims, I cannot openly be a missionary. The top industry in the country Asian country I serve in is tourism specifically scuba diving. Since I am a dive instructor, I am able to use this as a platform for working there. I build relationships with Muslim women who are marginalized and eventually I just share the love of Jesus with them either through my actions or answering their questions about the hope I have or the peace they feel around us.
Ministry Calling
I grew up in a family that traveled the world and was always seeking adventure. My parents had raised me to follow God and love others. As I finished grad school, I knew God was calling me to follow Him. I didn’t know what that looked like but I knew my answer was yes. I followed him to South Africa and then to Haiti. When I came back, I was on staff at Compassion on the global outreach for several years until my grandfather passed away. His last words to me were, “Brit, it’s time to go back overseas.” I could see how God had me at this amazing church being pruned for my next journey. This time it was further and to a much harder field and unreached people group. I can look back at my life even from my childhood and see how God strategically placed people and experiences in my path to get me here today. Now I can’t imagine any other life than diving and hanging out with Muslims on the other side of the world just praying for the opportunities to share stories about my faith. God just used the skills and talent He had given me to share Him with people who don’t know Him yet.
Family Life
I grew up here in Savannah. I have one brother and most of family still lives in Savannah. I grew up with a family out on the island who was on the water as much as possible. They taught me to love Jesus and to serve those around me and that missions was a lifestyle. Now, I am able to combine all those things and serve God on a different island; one in Southeast Asia serving those with a completely different than me.
Prayer Points for Brittany
- Personal: Pray for my family. I am very close to not only my mom, dad and brother but lots of cousins and aunts and uncles. Just because I am overseas serving God doesn't make the distance any shorter.
- Ministry: Please pray for workers. We are starting a 2 year phased approach to an unreached people group and we need other workers to join us.
- Community: I will be moving to an island that is 100% Muslim. Sometimes in this area the different religions do not get along and has been violent so please pray for a supernatural peace.
