Ministry Description
The Buena Vista Sports Academy exists to take the love of Jesus to tough places, evangelize and disciple boys and young men, pray for the Holy Spirit to light them on fire, and expect entire communities to come to Christ as a result. More than a “soccer ministry”, BVSA is an evangelism & discipleship ministry! Using the international language of soccer as a tool, we aim to break generational chains of sin, poverty, addiction, and spiritual lostness in tough places around the world.
You can read more about their life on the mission field and get updates on their family website.
Ministry Calling
In 2008, God called us from corporate America to Guatemala to help those whose needs are far greater than our own. Our eyes were opened to true poverty, suffering children, and desperate need – which has changed us to the core.
We lived in Guatemala for 10 amazing years. Arriving without a sending organization or even a “ministry plan”, we simply focused on abiding in Christ, and following the leading of the Holy Spirit. He eventually led us to long-term discipleship ministry to boys and young men. We trust that God will use these future leaders to transform their neighborhoods and win entire communities to Christ. Since then we have planted an additional Academy in Honduras and we are now serving in West Africa, working on another Academy plant.

Prayer Points for Brock & Kerrie Johnson
- Personal: For endurance and continued growth in wisdom and knowledge.
- Ministry: That we can teach Christ to, and disciple more, young men... and that they would genuinely know Jesus and seek to share their faith with their communities. Additional prayers for discernment with location for our current ministry plant.
- Community: That entire communities where we work would ultimately know and follow Jesus!
