Ministry Description
The Weekses have been serving in Ethiopia since 2013 with Christian Missionary Fellowship’s team of church planters. Travis helps train, support, and lead a team of national church planters serving in unreached parts of south-west Ethiopia with a goal to establish a network of indigenously led and supported local churches. Travis also runs a training program that provides ministry, leadership, biblical and theological education for leaders currently serving in established national churches. Ministry Calling
After serving as CMF Reach interns in East Africa (Travis, ’04, and Emily, ‘06), they felt called to go back to Africa as full-time missionaries. Upon graduating from Emmanuel Christian Seminary in May 2011, the Weekses had the opportunity to visit CMF’s ministry in Ethiopia. While in Ethiopia, they were greatly encouraged by the work God is doing through the church-planting team to reach people who have never heard the Good News of Jesus. In October of 2013, they (with their ten-week-old daughter Clare) arrived in Ethiopia to join the CMF team there.
Family Life
Travis and Emily have three kids, Clare (2013), Charley (2015), and Jude (2017). The Weekses lived and based their ministry from Nekempte, a small town in western Ethiopia, until 2019. Their favorite thing about living in Nekempte (according to their kids) was the giant tree in their backyard where they could daily watch the colobus and vervet monkeys play. Now they live in the capital of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa.
