Ghenna serves as an Associate Pastor at Islands Christian Church (ICC) in Kherson, Ukraine. ICC was planted more than 15 years ago by our partner, Kherson Christian Church, with the help of Compassion Christian Church. This church plant was purposefully located in a very oppressed area of the city. Unemployment is very high and alcohol abuse is rampant in the area. This church reaches out to hurting families in this community.
Ghenna’s main ministry is teaching and preaching in the church with the focus on the Children and Teen’s ministry, as well as helping the children to strengthen their faith and reaching the parents through their children. Ghenna is also a “Marked Men For Christ” national manager for Ukraine.
Since the first year of my Christian life (1993) I knew that I am saved to help others to come to Christ. In our mother church I was in the mission team for several years. As a church we participated several missions projects and when I was invited to participate the next church planting project in the area without a Christian church, I jumped in.
I grew up in a non-Christian family during the Soviet time. My parents had three children which was counted as a big family. My father died in 1992 when I was 22 and my older brother died in 2002. My older sister moved to Armenia in the 80th and has got a family there. My mom who is over 87 still lives with us.
I am married for 29 years with the same wife and we have 5 children (27, 21, 20, 16, 8). The older son Gleb works in Kyiv and the rest of the kids stay with us serving in the church. My older daughter Lisa is a worship minister and a teenager’s leader of the church, the other daughter Polina is a Sunday school teacher and Timothy does the sound system ministry for the church. The youngest Agnessa helps with the children programs.
My wife is the women’s minister of the church, the Sunday school director assistant, and the coordinator of our summer kid’s and teenager’s camps.
Prayer Points for Ghenna & Natasha Nebeskul
- Personal: Some of my relatives are not Christians yet, and I'd ask you to pray for them, especially my mom. My wife's health in general is not good, and it was a hard year for her. I keep on working on my house, pray for the wisdom and providence in this.
- Ministry: It is important for the kid's coming to the teenage and young adults life keep strong in their faith. Pray for those who took the decision to be with God to continue strong and for the God's work in the families of the kids.
- Community: Life is hard financially for many Ukrainians and especially in our area. Alcohol is still a big problem. Many kids grow with one parent that makes a lot of wounds in their lives. Pray for the families and kids we work with.
