Hey everyone! After a late night of jet lag and an earlier wake up time we were off to church. Half the group went with Pius to his church and the rest of us headed to Anastase’s church (two of our Global Outreach partners). We joined the church in their worship (as best we could with everything being sung in Kenyarwanda). But the joy and energy needed no translation. After worship we went with the kids and “Mama Sunday School” next door for class. The students performed a short skit about Jonah and the Whale. We then taught each other Sunday school songs. Afterwards we headed back to the service where we watched a group of dancers. They were amazing!
After lunch we headed back to the soccer stadium to watch Rwanda versus Tanzania at the Genocide Memorial Cup. We were very excited and all we wanted to see was Rwanda score a goal. And they did- twice! Rwanda beat Tanzania 2-0. I would say the crowds get just as excited when Rwanda almost scores as they do when they actually score.
After, we headed to a local restaurant and shared pizza and drank coca cola in glass bottles together with Pius. We ended our night reading encouraging prayer letters sent to us from members of the church (Y’all!). It was a great boost to our spirits! Now hopefully we will all get a good long nights sleep before we head out to a different school tomorrow to spend time with more kids.
