Trip Description
GO TENNESSEE Family
If this is your first time on a GO Team or if you have a heart for service, our trip to the Ability Ministry in Tennessee is a great way for you and your family to serve together! You will travel to the beautiful hills of Tennessee near Knoxville, to serve at Riverwood, a residential facility for adults with special needs. You will never view this community of people the same way after spending time with them at Riverwood. During the daytime the team works at the facility to do maintenance and special projects for the residents. Service opportunities include landscaping, cleaning projects, organizing and more. The best part of the trip, however is sharing meals with the residents and getting to know them. Come experience God’s heart in a totally new way through their eyes and learn how to love unconditionally!

Ability Ministry
About Ability Ministry
The Ability Ministry exists to enhance the lives of persons with physical and developmental disabilities by providing services for persons with developmental disabilities, including residence, job placement, opportunities for social interaction, and spiritual growth. In addition, we seek partnerships with individuals, churches, and other organizations to meet the physical and spiritual needs of persons with disabilities.
It is our desire to enable others through training, resources, and encouragement to effectively minister.
Ability Ministry’s curriculum is in 42 states and 19 different countries. The ministry loves to see the Church acknowledging those who Jesus called indispensable since less than 12% of churches in the US have a plan to reach out to people in their community with disability.
Ability Ministry has 2 group homes in Knoxville, 2 in Missouri, and are wanting to plant more homes in other places. There is a big need to provide care for those who are outliving their parents and caretakers so Gary is passionate to provide a place for people in these circumstances.
