Ecuador team 1 arrived safely at Carlos’ house in the early hours of Sunday, June 2. After a few hours of sleep, we awoke to the lovely sound of the rooster crowing to let us know it was daylight. Many wanted to continue sleeping to the beautiful roar of the ocean, but it is the Lord’s day so excitement overcame sleep.
We started the day with a team meeting and Carlos suggesting we use the walk to the Church as our quite time with God. Perfect idea that allowed us to see the beauty God has placed on earth. After we arrived, we were treated to an original Ecuadorian breakfast, pancakes and eggs, Graciously prepared and served by our hosts.
The church service was great. The worship team started us with some uplifting music. Even though we may not know the words, we all could clap to the great beat and worship in our own way. Pastor Luis’ message was “spot on” for his growing Church. His Acts 4 sermon was translated nicely by Willy for us.
Willy then led us around town and Renee asked us pray over the people we would interact with this week. Much seen and appreciated by the group. A rice and chicken lunch topped off our early afternoon activities.
Now we are spending the rest of the afternoon resting and planning our week’s activity with Carlos and the group. Some of us will be headed to a mens bible study tonight while others explore town if it doesn’t rain.
