We woke up on Saturday morning to a beautiful clear day. The “vistas” in Buena Vista are great!! It has been raining here at BV for 2 full weeks, so the clear skies were an answer to the prayers of our team as well as the Johnson’s and Davis’s. We have a project that we needed clear weather for! We needed to dig a ditch about 150 feet long and by as much as 5 feet deep. The need was to put a PVC pipe down to divert the rainwater and stop the eroding of the dirt from under one of the walls of the complex. What was planned as a 2 day project was accomplished in less than a day. Praise God!! We had plenty of help from the Rino’s as well as some of the community. It was a great project that gave the team an opportunity to interact with the Rino’s as well as the community. Saturday afternoon we were able to do some other projects at the complex. Saturday evening, Brock led us in a time of singing some praise music. It was great!! After singing, Brock told his story of how God rescued him from a self centered life and led him to Guatemala and specifically to BV to established the Sports Academy. What an awesome testimony to the sovereignty of God!! Over all we had a very blessed first full day at BVSA. Our team sharing time and devotionals have been great. The team is really become family and their desire to be willing servants has been a blessing to watch in action!
Sunday morning the country is celebrating Independence Day, we were able to visit some of the families in the community and pray with them. The overwriting though is that these families have so little and yet seem ok. This is a real reality check for all of the Team. We have so much to be thankful for and yet, we take it for granted. Our prayer is that God would sensitize us to the needs for not only this community, but for people back in the States. This has been a great learning experience for both the newbies and the returnees.
