This past Sunday we started the morning with a wonderful church service. A mixed team, mostly from Moldova, led the worship. Some of the students that I met last year, Serghei and his wife Galina, sang a beautiful Russian song based on Psalms 42. Serghei shared that they sing it every night as a family and he recently sang it to his cousin on her death bed. She had a very big part in bringing him to Christ. Another Moldovan that I know, named Igor, gave the communion talk. It was really cool to see them again.
After lunch we went to the city of Baden. It was warm but we managed to find a nice little pastry shop that looked very modern…and it was air conditioned! (Not to mention some really good treats) Not that we haven’t been eating good, because Theo, the staff chef is very creative. He is so creative that I have consumed a good bit of Tofu. Not completely sold on it but consuming it. It was a nice Sabbath day here in Austria.
Today we went right back to work. I trimmed hedges most of the day with a wonderful breeze blowing throughout the day. Besides working in the yard, my other duties consist of washing the breakfast dishes with Ronnie, a long time worker that will be going home next Sunday, and Mihai, the staff “tech guru”! They are both a lot of fun! Our team also helps with the drying of the lunch and dinner dishes, if you can get your hands into the pile. Which means I usually end up being a dish runner back to the dining room or putting them away in the kitchen.
After the breakfast dishes are done, each team gathers and has devotional and meeting time. Kevin, the staff maintenance coordinator, gives us a geographical and religious lesson with prayer needs about each one of the countries represented by the students attending this session. Paul, another long term worker that will also be going home on Sunday gives the devotional. We have a prayer time and then we head out to our assigned tasks. They have a well organized shop. Pat and I work with three other guys and they are all short time workers like us. We have a great time together and the day goes by very quickly. They pitched in and helped us finish up our task today just before the rain came. Very thankful for their helping hands.
It seems as if the drizzling rain has set in for the night. It is very relaxing and has cooled things down. Gonna sleep good tonight! Love to all back at home!
