It was not a project, it was not overly planned out. We did not know how many houses we would make it to that day and we only had a few small things with us to give to some children we might see. We ended up going the four homes of the Junior Varsity boys in the morning and just 2 houses of Varsity boys in the afternoon. As we went to each home Paul or Brock gave us information about each family and the Rino who lived there. We asked for prayer requests with Paul or Brock interpreting for us and then we prayed with them & for them. Then it was just a time to visit these wonderful families
The spiritual openness of these people amazed me. The requests they shared with us were real, honest and humble. Prayers for spiritual peace for them or family members, prayers for healing of continual pain they had to deal with, prayers for healing of relationships within their family, prayers for their upcoming trips and prayers for God to bless them with a little more room in their small house for their big family and more. Their requests were not that different from what many of us would ask for if we were really honest about what we really needed.
I ended the day with a much deeper connection with the people of Buena Vista. I hope to keep these people in my prayers continually from here on out. So, even though there is no house or building we can point to and say that we built or no great activity we accomplished that can be seen, this day made a great difference. I look forward to seeing how God answers these prayers and how He continues to move in this village in the future.
