Hola from Guatemala,
This week has been a very humbling for all of us on this team. Buena Vista is a village full of every sin you can imagine, but in the midst of it all, the Johnson and Davis families manage to bring the word of God to a group of boys in hopes that a change will occur. While our week is drawing to an end our hope and prayer is that this experience has made an indelible mark on our faith. While visiting a home in the village and talking with the husband, he told us that he had to cut fire wood and carry it on his back 45 minutes away to provide for his family. It was amazing to see the gratitude he displayed in being able to do so.
While on another visit through the village with the Davis’, it was apparent by the greeting we received that lives were being changed. It is a great to see the excitement with which we are received with when we visit the homes in the villages. They stop what they are doing, and gather all of the chairs they can find so that we feel welcomed. It is a lesson in hospitality I am sure we all could learn from. It is an amazing that when you go on a mission trip you leave thinking that you are going to teach and in reality you become the student.
