This is Donna and my first time to Guatemala. Our first full day here has been full, filled with new sights and so many beautiful faces! We have not only been introduced to the wonderful staff here – so eager to serve – but the Rinos! Each young man on this team, that God put together, has greeted us with a smile and the warmest of handshakes or in most cases – a welcome hug! As we are learning their faces and names we are fast learning their unique personalities as well. Delightful and visibly affected by the gospel love this academy is introducing into their lives and their community.
The steep village streets we have walked a bit (breathlessly!) and our team has been humbled by the sights we have seen; the people we have met; the beauty and the need of a Savior – our Jesus – right here in Buona Vista. That is what this ministry is all about – God’s vision and hope and love for these people.
We watched the Rinos at play today – in competition playing with excellence and enthusiasm at their beloved game of Futball. With laughter as our team joined them in playing games in the gym; learning each other’s names and languages. We have heard testimonies of how God brought each member of this staff together, the challenges, the sacrifices, the incredible blessings and the hope of God’s perfect plan unfolding here in this village.
What a privilege to take part in just a week of their life here! May God break my heart for these dear people… I believe that is why I am here. Please pray for everyone here in Guatemala and our team to be used however God wants… a special prayer for Brock right now, who is fighting off a tooth infection. Thank you! 🙂
