Hola! Buenos Dias or Noches (depending on when you are reading this message from Ecuador Team #4.
We want to let everyone know that we arrived in Guayaquil on schedule about midnight and made it through customs without even having to open a suitcase (praise the Lord!). We arrived at Carlos and Jeanette’s home in Curia at 4:00am.
We slept for 3 hours and then met for our morning devotional and walked the mile down the beach to the church for breakfast.
Church service was a truly wonderful experience for each of us! Pastor Luis spoke the lesson from his heart, the singing was beautiful, and the people of Ecuador so welcoming!
The most meaningful part of the service, that had our teens and adults awed, was the locals testimonies…..Isidro, who loves everyone, told of his thanks to God for blessing for returning his friend Ben (Plummer) to him and for healing him after his tumor removal…and the wonderful example of Faith shown by Arsenio, who cannot see much except for blurry shadows, yet walks from his home to church and small group to sing his prayers and thanks to God…. And Roberto, who Luis led to Christ after many years of battling his inner demons and thanked God for leading one of his sons to Christ and then dedicated his infant Grandchildren into the arms of the church body….
These people of Ecuador are so loving and open and excepting, and each of us have been inspired by the work that our friends Carlos and Jeanette have begun here. This is truly and example that the Apostle Paul would love!
Tomorrow we are going to visit the local small groups, school, and begin our soccer camp.
Sharing God’s love for his people,
Steve Kollman
