Yesterday we went to the beautiful Lake Kivu. It was absolutely incredible. The water was gorgeous, the food was amazing, and the devotion was emotional. We played on the beach and in the water after our in-depth devotional. The devotion just made all of us think about how much we were blessed meeting the other students. We also got to ride in a traditional African fishing boat. A select few had to help row the boat and that was pretty stressful on the shoulders and arms. It just showed how strong mentally and physically the people who have to row everyday are. It was the first day of not being at a school and that in itself was sad. The kids were absolutely amazing. God is doing big things with the schools, especially the Catch Up school.
Today we spent time with our peers and a few friends. We all got amazing things that we will adore and cherish forever. I will never forget the children and adults that I met. I know the rest of the team feels the same way. The material things we bought today will not match up to some of the letters, drawings, and smiles we will remember for eternity. I am so thankful the opportunity of the trip just as the rest of the team.
