Brightside Advocacy
Details
Opportunity Details
A CASA is the best interest representative in and out of the court to ensure that children in foster care have their needs met and achieve permanency in a timely manner. Our CASAs advocate by forming a relationship with the child to really know their needs as well as communicate with teachers, counselors, doctors, or anyone involved in the child's life. CASAs are required to meet with their assigned child(ren) once a month in person, but some CASAs meet with their child more. CASAs are also required to attend all court hearings for their case. Usually a CASA spends anywhere from 10-15 hours a month on their case, that fluctuates depending on the circumstances of the case.To find more information and complete an application, interested people can go our website at www.brightsideadvocacy.org

Fostering Bulloch
Details
Opportunity Details
Fostering Bulloch has started developing an outdoor recreational facility to serve children in foster care in Georgia and at-risk youth in our community. Our first step was to secure a land footprint that would become a light on the hill for kids in need of guidance and direction. We currently own 30 beautiful rolling acres that were formerly Smithfield Golf Course, including 20-foot elevation changes and a 5-acre pond. Originally, hundreds of thousands of dollars of site work went into developing the course and making it spectacular — there is even a Bald Eagle that lives in the area! The adjoining property and backdrop for the campground is a spectacular 300-acre lake. Once completed, the facility will have a cabins, a rock wall, a zip line, fishing docks, an archery range, a low ropes course, athletic fields, and canoes. The venue will be intentionally designed to host Teen Reach Adventure Camps (TRAC). TRAC camps focus on revealing the love of Christ by giving foster youth a space to share their stories. Our goal is to show them they are valuable and valued in the eyes of God. These kids get seconds on everything – families, schools, clothes, siblings – 7th Mile is being built for them first; however, they are expected to share it with everybody else. Our facility will be available year-round for other agencies serving youth, offering them a safe place to play, forgive, and heal.
We are in need of volunteers who are willing to donate their time and energy to help care for the grounds through basic yard work such as mowing, picking up pine cones, weed control, etc.

This ministry is impossible without Godly men! We send 2 Sunshine male volunteers to each club with our outreach team each week. Their role is to transport the outreach team, pray for the team, and provide protection. We send 2 men to each club for accountability purposes.Assist refugee students with transportation to and from class. May include children. Child seats are provided by students if needed.
Women's English Club serves resettled refugee women through hospitality, relationships, and conversational English lessons. Volunteers will learn how you can befriend women from around the world and the first steps of navigating cultural differences. Our staff will follow up later with volunteers through the application, background check and child safety training process following the orientation.
WEC meets on Friday afternoons from 12-2pm. Commitment levels start at once a month and go up.
Volunteers are needed to help our serve teams with hospitality, children, transportation, assisting teachers and teaching with a team. And yes, children are encouraged to come with their moms to participate!
