So today we cooked our last new meal. Starting tomorrow we will be eating leftovers and soups made from the various leftovers. The goal: eat all leftovers before everyone leaves for their break. The meal was super tasty and cooked with lots of love and attention to ensuring that the flavors were absolutely delicious. It would be so easy to cook food that was unattractive, unappealing and tasteless. With a limited budget, Theo ensures that the food that is cooked is plentiful and finger-licking good. All of us who are in the kitchen derive great pleasure from seeing everyone enjoy their meals.
Students come here to learn; that is the primary focus. However, there is a huge emphasis on serving the students and making them feel so very special. Many of them come from difficult situations and endure hardships in their countries, but when they are here, they are treated quite specially.
I understand why folks love to come here to serve. These students are instrumental in spreading God’s word throughout Europe. They are all dedicated to advancing God’s kingdom.
We leave in a couple of days which makes me a little sad. During my time here, I have learned so much not only about cooking but about humility and service. I have been in a community of believers that loves the Lord and is not ashamed to show it. From singing in the kitchen while drying dishes to our beautiful Sunday service, this has been a truly wonderful life-changing experience.
