Today we went to Anastase’s church, Agape Community Church. The congregation was welcoming and allowed us to go on stage and introduce ourselves. Katie was given the opportunity to share her testimony. As she held back tears, she shared inspiration and encouragement to the congregation. We got the opportunity to lead two worship songs that resulted in applause and cheers.
We got to lead Sunday school again today, in which Malloy taught about the story of David and Goliath. The children laughed and engaged with the skit. Afterwards, we led songs of worship with the kids and taught them dances. Malloy shared the story of Jonah and the Whale, and Carlee gave real life application to the story we depicted from The Bible.
After church, we ate lunch and headed to a different church in a town called Kabuga, for the second day of the youth rally. We engaged in worship for several hours, and were given the opportunity to lead a few songs on stage. A dance group went on stage and moved beautifully to two songs in Kinya-Rwanda (the native language) and one English song. The group was amazing and gave me chills as I watched the passion they had.
Another worship team came on stage to sing “How Great Thou Art,” but in their native tongue. We were able to sing along in English, and it gave such an inspiration. There’s just something about hearing a familiar worship song in another language that made me realize that God is universal and His people are global. They love and worship the same God we do, they experience the same struggles and have the same relationship with Christ as we do. It was a memorable moment of pure love for Christ and the amazing work that only comes through Him.
Following the worship team, Emily gave her testimony to the crowd. She spoke of her struggles and her distant relationship with God as a child. She encouraged the listeners as she told of her bond with Christ and the love she has been shown in the last two weeks.
Tomorrow is our final day in Rwanda. We are sad to leave and are especially dreading 24 hours of flying! I speak for the group when I say we have had an amazing, emotional, and unforgettable time in Rwanda and are so blessed for God’s ability to bring us here. Thank you so much for all the love and support!
