Today was our second full day in Rwanda. We are all so thankful for the opportunity to be apart of what God is doing in this beautiful country!
This morning, we had a worship rehearsal at Pius’s church to prepare for the youth conference we will be hosting tonight, Saturday, and Sunday. Learning worship songs in both English and Kinyarwanda (Rwanda’s official national language) has been such a treat! The sound of two different groups of people worshiping in two different languages has shown us just how connected we are to people on the other side of the world all because of what Christ did on the cross.
While walking through the city of Kigali this afternoon, a few of our team members recognized a sweet lady named Josie that they had met on a previous trip to Rwanda. Josie ran up to us, wrapped her arms around the team members she recognized, and introduced herself to everyone else. Josie was introduced to the gospel by a previous Rwanda Students team from our church. Still to this day, she remembers the faces of the people that shared the love of Jesus with her for the first time! Josie’s story is a testimony to how God is using Compassion Christians to make a lasting impact in the lives of our friends in Rwanda.
This evening was the first night of the youth conference at Pius’s church. God showed up in a big way and his presence was felt during worship, testimony sharing, and speaking. Our entire team had the opportunity to lead worship by singing and dancing on stage. Though the music was not perfect and though the production was not out of this world, the Rwandan people worshiped their hearts out! Their ability to look past worldly things and focus on the perfection of God during worship is extremely encouraging. Brice had the opportunity to share his testimony tonight, and his story inspired many. At the end of the night, we had an altar call and FOUR PEOPLE stood up to give their lives to Christ for the first time! God is touching hearts in Rwanda, and we are so thankful that we get to witness all that he is doing!
Please continue to pray for our team–that we would be filled with the Holy Spirit each day and that we will have the boldness to share our faith. We are looking forward to all that we will see God do during our time in Rwanda and we are so thankful for YOUR prayers!
