Greetings my precious brothers and sisters of Compassion,
Tonight is the eighth day of being on mission to Kherson Christian Church in Ukraine. It’s been a real whirlwind. The pace has been very fast. I’ve been challenged a little by a nagging sinus irritation and I got a fat lip from trying to kiss a fast moving baseball. But our spiritual condition is Great! We came here to serve and encourage them and it’s backfired on us and we’ve been exponentially uplifted. The hospitality of our Christian Family here in Ukraine is off the chart.
We will all be coming back a few pounds heavier, that’s for sure. It’s hard to find words to adequately describe the Christ-likeness of these precious brothers and sisters here. We are humbled by how they have selflessly served us. The main thrust of our energies have been towards launching the youth camp, (The Light Camp) ages 14 – 20. But, we also had a men’s conference, English classes, and the Wednesday and Sunday services. It was simply amazing to see the Holy Spirit working. Hearts were definitely touched and the groundwork has been set for a youth revival to occur in and around Kherson Christian Church.
The baseball equipment that we brought last year was a great advantage to this years work. We had a few well attended games that attracted some of the local youngsters to join in. The last game yesterday was great! It was a grand slam. People from the surrounding apartment buildings were stopping to see what was going on. Single parents with children and local kids were welcomed and even refreshed with refreshments and a tasty meal. A positive impression was definitely made. I positively believe that this is a strong foundation for a gradual and continual increase of the youth ministry here at Kherson Christian Church.
This years short term mission trip here to Kherson Christian Church in Ukraine has been a smashing success. We came and did our part, but the Holy Spirit did the heavy work. Jesus said without Me you can do nothing. Oh, I forgot to mention, this morning Bill Mcgee baptized a young mother and her son in the Dnieper River, a short walk behind the church. We were all walking on air after that one. The Lord is alive and well in Ukraine and this is just the very beginning.
Anyway, the team is preparing to depart back home this evening. We’re being picked up to go the airport at 4:30 AM for a 6:00AM flight. I will be remaining behind to serve for another two weeks before I return. It’s going to be great!
God bless y’all. We love you.
Bob
