Today was our first full day of working in our areas. Jeff, Kelsey and Carol are working outside and Mikki, Susan and I are working in the kitchen. The outside crew are already working great together and accomplishing much by making the grounds look pristine clean for our guest.
We in the kitchen had a pretty ambitious day. We made open faced rueben sandwiches and a full course traditional Thanksgiving meal…for about 95 people. One of the students said they have always seen and heard about American holiday meals but until tonight had never had one. They really enjoyed it. Made me happy and made the efforts worth it.
We had a few issues today. The kind that normally crop up after you think jet lag is over but you are still not up to 100%. Mikki and I were able to talk with a couple, encourage them, pray over them asking that God would bless the rest of their time here and the worse would be behind them.
What I have found is that the students are not the only ones we can serve at Haus Edelweiss. It is great to work with other churches that send short term workers, long term workers and of course the staff. They feel more like family than just someone you met on a mission trip.
Here are just a few pics and videos from today. The last video was during our first meeting with everyone that is staying here. There were announcements, student orientation and a time to give God glory for bringing us all together through praise and prayer.
I am tired, feet/back are sore but could not be happier or feel more blessed than I do right this moment.
