Muraho!
Today is our third full day in Rwanda! This place and these new friends have completely exceeded my expectations. I was nervous about coming on my first mission trip and stepping out of my comfort zone, but all of the leaders at Agape Community Church have made me feel so welcome. I’ve been encouraged by their joyful spirits and their contagious love for the Lord. Our team is working closely with them this week to help lead a youth conference here in Kigali.
This morning we worshiped together, prayed together, and Nick got to preach a session on identifying with Christ by bearing spiritual fruits. There was a really cool moment at the end when he asked everyone to pray over their struggles and write them down on a banner of paper at the front of the room. You could see a mix of our team members and Rwandans using the exercise to be vulnerable and submit their fears and insecurities to Jesus. It was an awesome reminder that no matter what kind of language barriers or cultural differences we may face on this journey, we’re all brothers and sisters in Christ.
Later in the afternoon, Laurie, Jovanna, Eric, and I got to lead our own small groups. When I first found out that I was a leader, I was extremely scared and insecure that I wouldn’t have all the right answers. It took me lots of prayer and encouragement to realize that God doesn’t always need those who are equip with the right tools, He needs those who are willing to take a leap of faith. I feel like God is using our team to build relationships and support our Rwandan partners in spreading the gospel through this beautiful country.
Thank you for all of the prayer and support,
Hannah Carver
Glad you are having a great experience, love you
