This is my second year serving at Haus Edelweiss and the sense of serenity and overall calmness that one feels is almost palpable. There is no doubt that great Kingdom work is being completed here.
By the time we settled in we had been up for over 36 hours. We were all tired and hungry but eager to start learning about our work during our time at the Haus. We met as a large group for an orientation to table hosting. I could not help remembering how I felt the previous year when I came for the first time and was hearing about this same thing. Last year, I was overwhelmed and worried about whether I would remember everything I had to do; this year, I was reflecting on how well thought out everything is at the Haus and how everything is deliberated orchestrated to facilitate the building of relationships and to demonstrate the love of God.
The best part was reconnecting with the staff at the Haus and seeing the new people who would be working. It was nice to learn about the changes in their lives — new babies, trips home, plans for the future. It was nice to hear each person articulate what they were looking forward to during their time of serving. I am blessed to be among so many people who want to serve, who are obedient to God’s calling and who feel it is a privilege to be used by God in this way.
Tonight, we went over to the home of Jim and Dot, long term workers at TCM, to get to know the other short term workers better. We heard some wonderful stories from folks who have been coming here for so many years: stories about how God has worked in their lives and stories about how God has worked to keep TCM going. It was great to listen to others talk about how and why they decided to serve.
In the next 13 days we will be working quite hard, will have long days and will go to bed exhausted. I sometimes can’t believe that we get to come here to do God’s work. How awesome is that!!!
Feeling blessed.
