It’s been a long trip already and we haven’t even left the US. After a delay in Savannah we ran from one terminal to another in New York’s JFK Airport (all in all about a quarter of a mile) only to see our plane pulling away without us. It was disheartening to say the least.
After many hours (5 total) of negotiating with the airlines, trying to track down luggage, communicating the new plan to everyone and taking a deep breath, we are now waiting at the gate for our first international flight. None of us thought we would be traveling to Russia today! As it turns out, God had another plan 🙂 We will be connecting in Moscow before arriving in Delhi tomorrow.
I cannot express how p roud I am of the team, their patience and their good humor! These kinds of delays and disappointments would put anyone in a bad mood, but the Lord has given us unity and there has been nothing but encouragement and support at every step of the way. While I stood at the counter and negotiated with the airline to rebook our flights, begging that they help us get there sometime today so that we would not miss our in country flights to our partners, the team was circled up behind me praying for favor. Those prayers paid off! We have encountered nothing but kindness and a sincere desire to help since this ordeal started. If you have ever struggled with airline issues, you know this is not always the case!
As we sit at the gate now, one of the team members asked if they could look at our prayer cards which were filled out during our commissioning at late church. We could all use a little encouragement! And we certainly found it. The beautiful prayers, notes, and even incredible drawings, reminded us that we are not on this journey alone! We take all of you with us, and your prayers and support are more valuable than you know! Thank you for supporting us at every step of this journey! We will continue to share how God demonstrates his faithfulness on this trip. We have already felt it so strongly!
There are no mistakes in your circuitous journey. I am so excited to see who God puts in your path.
