We arrived here Sunday night after a 12-hour drive from Savannah to Louisiana. I did not know anyone at the beginning of this Disaster Relief Team trip, it’s amazing what a long bus ride with 12 people that I had never met before can produce. We have since named ourselves the “Dirty Dozen”, the name really suits us. Not sure I have ever sweated so much and worked this hard in my lifetime and felt so good. Today, we helped remove damaged sheet-rock and completely demolished a large bathroom. Had a great time getting to know the homeowners, Henry and Monique. Our whole team bonded along with the family, enough so that they showed up at the host church where we were staying to have dinner with us. We decided they liked us as much as we liked them, as fellow team member Jessica said, “they came to dinner voluntarily!” It has been a very humbling experience thus far and I believe great things will continue to happen this week. Praise be to God for this experience.
