Greetings brothers and sisters of Compassion,
Hope you are all doing well. It’s been seven days since the team returned back to Savannah. Times just a zooming right on by. We’ve been chugging right along. I’ve been laying tile in the church staircase and landings when time allows. It’s proceeding nicely, can’t wait to see the finished product. Oleg, Ghenna, Liza, and Sasha have helped me. They have also invited me to assist in teaching the English classes which is a joy. I never thought I could be useful in this way, but it’s easy and fun.
Yesterday we had a really nice church service. Olegs message was very good. The jest of the message was Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” I was invited to preach a small sermon on repentance and sing a little song. I did a little 5 minute message on pride and discontentment. I still have a little frog in my throat but everybody tells me I sang well. Go figure. After church Ghenna’s family and I went to a little pizza place and had a delightful lunch. Afterwards we all went to the market and purchased all the fixings for a spaghetti dinner which I promised to prepare for our Sunday dinner.
Then Ghenna and I went the prayer meeting at the town square and had a very powerful communal prayer for the people of Kherson, the church, and the situation in Ukraine. It’s just so great to be able to pray openly to the Lord Jesus right under the pedestal where a statue of Lennon used to stand. Now the Ukraine flag proudly flies the mast in its stead. This is proof that the Lord is working on behalf of Ukraine. I have a good feeling that things are going to really improve here for this precious people.
Well, this morning is a brand new day the Lord has blessed us with and I’m feeling anxious to get some work done. I’ll be tiling today and maybe teaching some English. Oh, and everybody really liked my spaghetti dinner last night.
Love y’all and miss ya. Bob
