Yesterday we had a tour of the JAARS and learned about how much support is needed to help missionaries in the field learning the language and translating the New Testament into the native “heart” language. We have heard so many amazing stories from missionaries.
We have also learned about the Jesus video produced by Campus Crusade for Christ. Literacy is a problem for so many native people, especially the older generation, so even with a New Testament in their own language, they are unable to read it. The next project after a translation is finished is to dub the Jesus video in the native language. A missionary goes back to the village and chooses natives to speak the parts of the video that are then dubbed in the video so that the village can watch their very first video in their own language, and it is a video about Jesus!
We also learned that the Wycliffe organization is creating other Bible story videos that they put on SIM cards for the people in the village to view on their cell phones. Since the videos are on a SIM card, they do not have to download the videos and the government cannot detect them. The people can also share the videos to other cell phones which allows for exponential growth in the number of people who get to view the videos.
It is amazing how God is working through people and technology to reach Bibleless people around the world! God is so amazing and good!
