A lot of amazing things happened today. I could honestly write an entire novel on all of the God sightings and life changing things I have witnessed with this great group of people. Our day consisted of painting MORE houses (that we all secretly love whether we admit it or not), visiting other towns to tag along with the physical therapists, medical house visits, and me eating everyone’s food; but the best part of my entire day was the sharing within the group. I cannot even begin to fully describe the love that is held within this group. We all came on to this trip not knowing much more than a name.
But tonight was truly amazing. The stories that were shared around made it clear that the presence of God was with us through everything we did and with everyone we helped. The most prominent of all the stories that were shared were the stories shared by our translator. This girl is seventeen and has never left Ecuador before. She speaks fluent English and Spanish, while being able to keep up with American slang. She has this understanding of God that I have never seen in any other person in my entire life. The way she speaks is so easy to understand, but you can also tell that she genuinely cares about every person that she comes in contact with. I hope that one-day I can have half of the intelligence and understanding that she possesses.
I will never forget this group, nor will I forget the confidence that everyone has in one another. We were all able to open up and cry in front of each other. We are all so close and it is the best feeling in the world that we are all able to experience this together. I will be an emotional wreck Tuesday morning whenever I have to leave my newfound family.
The best is yet to come.
