Prayer request from one of our partners in India, Mid India Christian Mission:
“The northern state of India, Uttrakhand, has been hit by severe floods and landslides due to heavy rains in the hilly areas. The news channels report it as the, “Tsunami of the Himalayas.” Nothing like this has happened for over 100 years. The official news is reporting only a few hundred deaths, but the people who have survived mention that this figure is more likely in the thousands. It has also been reported that over 90 hotels, packed to capacity with Hindi pilgrims, have been completely washed away. There is nothing but rubble left from many homes.
We started evangelistic activities in this state last year and have been working with a couple of evangelists there. We have responded to all major disasters in India. These disasters have opened doors to reach others with the Gospel. We plan to respond here also as soon as possible. Currently it looks almost impossible to get to this area because all of the roads to get there have been either blocked by the landslide or washed away by the flood.
Our plan is to go into the affected areas and provide relief and look for opportunities to share the Gospel. Pray that doors will be opened.”
