We arrived in Warsaw, Poland yesterday afternoon with no issues. As we exited the plane we stopped in the airport and said a prayer of thanks to God for smooth flight connections and no team members getting sick while traveling. We went to get our bags and found out that none of our luggage had arrived with us. It is times like this where it can be tempting to get frustrated with the situation but everyone kept a positive attitude about it and we got it all sorted out.
We met Edyta, our partner from Proem, at the airport and she showed us around Warsaw’s Old Town for an hour or so and we headed to visit Proem’s church in Tomasz where we were able to spend some time with the local community at a picnic. While there, some of us played soccer with the local youth and Merline put her artistic talents to use painting angry birds on children’s faces.
We ended up back at the Proem camp in Zakosciele last night and got settled in (still minus our bags). The best part out missing our luggage was that it did not affect anyone’s attitudes. We were all tired but in high spirits. At the camp we were able to spend an hour of worship with the youth currently at the camp. This was an amazing experience and a great start to this trip. The singing, praying and speaking was all in Polish but it didn’t matter. We could feel God’s presence in the room and were reminded that our God’s love transcends language. After the worship time, we watched a talent show where the students showcased what they had worked on during the arts based camp.
