This morning at breakfast, Stacey related a travel story to us that showed how we need to yield to God’s plan and not worry about our plan. She used Proverbs 3:5-6 and Proverbs 16:9 to illustrate her story. Our translator, Mandy, was amazed at the roadblocks Stacey ran into, how she prayed, and the outcome God gave her. The expression on Mandy’s face was absolutely priceless at one point. Mandy is not a Christian, but this week is having a big impact on her and we can only pray that she continues searching with this local church when we leave.
Some of the guys went to the pastor’s house to continue with the construction of the extra room. The construction techniques are interesting and simple. Not sure we would pass the building code at home, but it is effective construction. The sun came out today and we actually sweated while setting up the columns. Cement was set so we wait for it to dry.
Home visitation today brought out the fact if we trust God he will provide. The family they visited is out of work and there are 5 children. Yet someone drives by and needs car work done the day the family needs food. The baby was sick and we were able to provide the medicine.
VBS was in the town of Elon. There were an equal amount of kids and adults for the fun and learning. The Church here is reaching out to other communities and getting a good response when they show up. Kim did an amazing presentation of the salvation story, our kids put together salvation bracelets, and the kids danced and hugged Kim as a great thanks.
Guys ended construction project early to prepare dinner for the men’s group. Carlos’ has a home group that meets once a month. Our job was to serve them. We prepared a low country boil using local ingredients. Not quite the same as home, but a hit with everyone. We then had a great lesson on “Forgiveness” led by John. There was some good discussion after the lesson as men opened up on the topic. Some awesome fellowship with the local men. We ended the lesson with some fine brownies prepared by Jeff and Sean.
During our lesson, the ladies were ministering to Elizabeth. She is the lady with breast cancer whose family we met Monday night. Our ladies did an outstanding job listening to, comforting, and praying for Elizabeth. She was in deep need and our ladies were there at the right time.
Thursday we will expand our knowledge of Ecuador and interact with different people as we visit some recreational sites.
The Lord has assembled a great team here in Ecuador. The Lord put it in each of our hearts to be here and we each made plans, but The Lord is definitely establishing our steps while we are here.
